Paul E. Capetz is the minister of Christ Church by the Sea (United Methodist) in Newport Beach, California. He received his education at the University of California at Los Angeles, Yale Divinity School, and the University of Chicago Divinity School.  He is also Professor Emeritus of Historical Theology at United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St. Paul). He is the author of Christian Faith as Religion: A Study in the
Theologies of Calvin and Schleiermacher, God: A Brief History, and Recovering Protestantism’s Original Insight: Luther’s Heritage and Theological Criticism of the Bible.
