The Journal of Lutheran Ethics is meant to be a bridge between congregations and the academy.\u00a0 This issue in particular is a good time to discuss the connection between our NECU schools and our ELCA churches.\u00a0 The following discussion questions can be used to lead a conversation on this relationship.<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. \u00a0Luther was both a pastor and a professor.\u00a0 How do you see the role of pastor and teacher to be similar and how do you see it to be different?\u00a0 In what ways are each of us called to support pastors and teachers, churches and schools?<\/li>\n
  2. \u00a0In your experience and in reading these articles, do you think that Lutheran theology offers a unique take on higher education?\u00a0 Why should we continue to have and support Lutheran schools? What do they offer their students and the broader culture?<\/li>\n
  3. Several of the essays discuss the importance of teaching critical thinking and dialogue skills while also being true to a central mission.\u00a0 How can we each take a stand on our commitments as Lutherans to love God and love our neighbor while encouraging freedom of speech?<\/li>\n
  4. The December issue will focus on the ethics involved in Artificial Intelligence.\u00a0 What did you learn from the essay in this issue that made you think differently about AI in the classroom?\u00a0 What are your initial thoughts about the use of AI in teaching, preaching, and learning?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
