Dr Chad Rimmer at the 2025 Churchwide Assembly in Phoenix.\u00a0 This reflection brings together theology and action.\u00a0 Immediately after the address, there were calls by listeners for the text.\u00a0 JLE is grateful to Rev. Dr. Rimmer for providing the written text so that it could be shared with readers.<\/p>\n<p>[2] The presentation of the reflection began with the singing of a prayer that reminded listeners that we do not know anything of God except that which God reveals.\u00a0 What God reveals is that God is Love, that God who is Love creates and reconciles.\u00a0 While humans disintegrate, God re-integrates.\u00a0 Faith in this Love frees human beings as they move to act knowing they will \u201cget it wrong\u201d to act anyway in order to participate in the great reconciling movement of the Spirit. Such faith frees us from the anxiety that paralyzes.<\/p>\n<p>[3] The paper weaves together actions that have been taken or are about to be taken as part of the assembly as the voting members elected a bishop, considered and passed memorials and resolutions, and examined social statements.<\/p>\n<p>[4] This special issue of JLE brings this reflection on faith and ethics to readers inside and outside of the 2025 ELCA Chruchwide Assembly meeting.\u00a0 The August and September issue of JLE on marriage and family in celebration of the 500<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of the Luther Wedding will be posted after the Assembly.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[1] This special edition of Journal of Lutheran Ethics contains the theological reflection given by Rev.
